Amanda was born the oldest of three kids in Southern California and lived in a desert town off the beaten path for almost thirteen years. Raised as a Roman Catholic, she was taught that God is holy above all things and deserves our reverence. After moving to the Midwest, Amanda was converted to Christ as a result of intentional relationships with teammates on her high school gymnastics team. After graduating from Indiana University, she married her husband, Michael. The Ostroms later moved to Louisville for both to attend The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, where they became members of Immanuel Baptist Church.
After finishing her M.A. in Biblical Counseling, Amanda and her family moved to Charleston, SC in 2017 as part of the Holy City Church planting team. In addition to caring for her family and homeschooling her children, Amanda has more than a decade of experience as a certified Birth Doula, where she has served expectant parents with online Birth Prep Courses, workshops, and virtual doula services for those seeking faith-based, Christian pregnancy care. Over the years, she has served Holy City Church as a counselor, Sunday school teacher, and Audio & Visual coordinator. Amanda loves reading as much fantasy & science fiction as she can squeeze in, as well as cultivating the illusive homemaking skills of latte art and gardening in our sandy Lowcountry soil. Amanda and Michael have 3 children and live on Johns Island.
